One to Two Pages, plus bibliography (if needed)
This semester we have explored various ideas about what it means to be White in America, and we have peeled back layers of Native American history as it is so often presented to all of us. From the earliest readings, you then explored a topic connected to our overarching themes and learned even more about how race and ethnicity operate in a wide range of situations.
For your final reflection, I ask you to look back at the semester and discuss what you are taking from the course. This can be in terms of the overarching theme, your own research and what surprised (or did not surprise) you, the research and writing process, or a combination of these. It is not necessary to cite specific readings unless there is something in particular that has stuck with you. Do you find yourself thinking differently about the topics now than you did before we started the course? If so, how? Is there anything you learned in this course that you think will shift your ways of thinking for the better or worse? Do you believe you have made a good faith effort to keep an open mind, or has it been difficult for you to see others’ viewpoints? How might I approach these ideas differently in future courses so the learning is more effective?
Spelling, grammar, and conventions all count for this assignment. If you do cite a specific reading or course resource, please remember that citations are necessary.
